About

A few tickets have just become available. Sale ends at 8pm tonight!

Background:

Following years of tireless fundraising efforts for the Velindre Cancer Trust, their Patron Rhod Gilbert has recently shared that he is currently being supported by them.

Inspired by his great work, dedication and generosity, a number of stand-up comedy promoters in South Wales have decided to come together to help pick up the mantle while Rhod is recovering. Under the name Wales Stands Up, shows will take place between 10th-16th October across the whole region.

This show sold out in just over a day without even mention of a line up! Well - here it is! Expect a fast-paced showcase style event with a packed-out line-up of six amazing acts; each one a headliner in their own right!

MATT REES:

Matt is a circuit legend and a 'properly original comedy mind' (The Guardian) who 'can tell a story or create a world in a sentence' (The Skinny). His writing is pin sharp, often delivered with a trademark deadpan sardonic sting. He is a multi-award winning act who has suported Joe Lycett, John Robbins and Elis James on tour, and he is entirely hilarious!

Winner: Welsh Unsigned Stand-up Awards, Loaded LAFTAS, Mercury Comedian of the Year, Leicester Square Comedian of the Year

Star of Stand Up At BBC Wales and Amazon's Audible Presents

MORGAN REES:

Morgan is one of the circuit's fastest-rising stars. Fresh from a successful run of the Edinburgh Fringe with his show Bi and Large, he has been described as 'Excellent' by the Scotsman and a 'master of redirection...in a punchline-heavy set' by Chortle. Morgan has been a BBC New Comedy Awards finalist as well as tour support for the likes of Fern Brady, Russell Kane and Tommy Tiernan. Expect 'Fast gags, unexpected swerves and rolling stories' (The Sunday Times).

PHIL COOPER:

Phil is one of the quickest thinkers on the circuit. He's a South Wales charmer with an endless supply of observations, jokes and surreal stories. He is as comfortable riffing with the audience as he is re-counting the bizarre things that life throws up. He's a star of BBC Sesh and Gwerthu Allan and a multi-award winner who also made the semi-finals in the BBC New Comedy Awards. Phil 'makes comedy look simple...a true talent' (Fosters Comedy) and is a 'top class comedian', Ministry Comedy.

MEL OWEN:

Mel is a fresh-faced observational comedian from Aberystwyth, and a Bristol Comedy Chest and Funny Women Workout competition winner. Mel's scriptwriting credits include work for the BBC and Channel 4 and when she is not on stage she is busy presenting Mel Mal Jal: one of Wales' most popular podcasts. She is currently gearing up to hit the festivals with her first full show! Mel performed at our launch night back in April and the audience loved her, so we have invited her back to see you again!

DAN GLYN:

Dan is one of the best known and most respected acts on the South Wales circuit, and a true master of warm, relatable local humour. A former Welsh-language TV presenter and a star of BBC Wales Gwerthu Allan, he now delivers punchline-driven sets to audiences all over the place. He only does the nice gigs though, so it was inveitable that we would eventually get Dan down to The Confessional! We know you are going to love him!
